Vincent Valentine: Final Fantasy Advent Children
This commission is still in progress but I couldn't wait to put some progress images up. The commission was for the cloak, wig with headwrap, boots with armor plating, and the gloves including the glove and claw with armor plating. The boots and claw will be shown in the prop section of the gallery under
Vincent Valentine's Armor.
Patterns Progress
As you can tell, one image is of the cloak with the tatters chalked out ready to be cut. The second image is the piece I will be using for the caplet that goes over the cloak and the shoulders. I tried my best to have there be no visible seams but unfortunately, I had to put a seam along the top of the shoulders which will actually be better for the attachment of the cloak in the long run.
Vincent Cloak & Caplet
This is a rough progress shot of the caplet over the cloak. Because the shoulder seams have not been sewn yet in the picture, the caplet it will hang a little funny plus it will also be an inch shouter once finished. In the end the caplet and the cloak will be one piece. The tatters were fun; I burned the edges to bring the 2 layers of fabric together and to create Vincent's worn/burnt look to the cloak. (a hint to those doing something similar for this or other cosplays...a polyester based fabric will melt with the heat. Other fabrics will just become burnt and singed <sp?> and not "close" the seam or frays fo fabric and thread)
I have the leather for the strapes and I have sculpted the shapes/designs for the buckles and straps' end covers to be cast. [not pictured]
