The Joshua has a lack of fluting near the tip of the slide (the slide and the frame are the same length). Also the hammer guard on the back has a steep slant and doesn't protrude very far. The finger guard is square and has no added detail along its front. The hand grip is also black which changes to brown later on in the other variants.

The Joshua's grip color is now brown instead of the Mang'a black. The anime version also sports a fluted slide and protruding hammer guard. The finger guard is curved and has the addition of a hooked detail to its front. Another major difference is the ejection ports shape; the TV variant has the rounded details at the corner that is not seen in the other variants (section not highlighted).

The OVA version is almost identical to the anime version except that the frame is about 3/4 inches shorter then the slide. (Unfortunately, the pictures above are from exaggerated views. So it may be hard to tell the actual measured distance in these particular shapshots.) Unlike the TV, the trigger guard is also more square reverting back to the Manga's style and while there is still a detail along the guard's front the detail is not as exaggerated as the anime.
As for the Jackal, the hand grip is brown instead of black.
